Regional Quality Improvement Partnerships (RQIPs) are being set up to identify the improvement needs and priorities of each region. QIA will be a core member of each partnership.
Regional eyes and ears for quality improvement The RQIPs will be the regional ‘eyes and ears’ on quality improvement activity in the sector. They will identify improvement needs and priorities on a regional basis, drawing on evidence from:
- colleges and education and training organisations (self assessment)
- The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) (annual review)
- inspection (annual assessment)
- QIA (knowledge of what works)
The partnerships will link up with other regional groups focusing on skills, 14–19 learning, post-16 initial teacher training and workforce development and will build on existing regional arrangements.
RQIPs will have a consistent, but not necessarily uniform approach. Meetings will be convened and chaired by the LSC. Core members will be colleges, education and training organisations, QIA, the Inspectorates and regional Government Offices.
QIA strategic partnership managers will work with the partnerships to make sure that regional priorities are reflected in QIA’s strategy and work programme. They will also manage QIA regional communications and relationships.
