QIA - Improvement Strategy

Aims, objectives and implementation plans

Aims, objectives and implemenation plans

This section sets out the aims, objectives and priority actions of the Improvement Strategy and how they relate to the Government's current model of public sector reform. These were developed following an extensive consultation exercise with the further education system during the summer and autumn of 2006, which pre-dated the publication of Lord Leitch's report on his review of skills. Given the significance of his recommendations, it was important that the national Improvement Strategy reflect the implications of the recommendations made, and this is set out here.

The aims and objectives of the Improvement Strategy reflect the model of UK public service reform set out at the end of this section as well as evidence of the current levels of success and performance in the further education system. A summary of the evidence is set out under the aims below; the more detailed evidence is shown here.
