Improvement Strategy priority actions
The Improvement Strategy implementation plan sets out a comprehensive list of improvement actions. All of these are important but none will be effective unless they support colleges' and providers' own self-improvement. The 12 most important actions are to:
- embed personalisation and increase the learner voice (1.2.4, 1.3.1 and 1.3.2)
- improve provider responsiveness to employers (2.2.1)
- improve performance and quality assessment, including robust self-assessment, peer review and validation, the introduction of the Framework for Excellence and a more proportionate approach to inspection (3.1.1, 3.1.9, 3.5.2 and 3.5.4)
- implement the Intervention Strategy (3.6.1 to 3.6.5)
- support leadership development and implement leadership qualifications (3.2.7 and 3.2.9)
- launch and implement the Workforce Development Strategy (3.3.1)
- continue and extend the National Teaching and Learning Change Programme (3.1.1)
- continue and extend the Skills for Life Improvement Programme and projects to take forward the Leitch recommendations (3.1.1)
- continue and extend the Train to Gain Support Programme in light of the Leitch recommendations (3.1.1)
- deliver the 14-19 Diploma Support Programmes (3.1.1)
- identify the needs and develop programmes to support Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 (L4 and L5)
- develop programmes to address the gaps in success rates between learners from different backgrounds (1.4.1 and 1.4.3)
