National Improvement Strategy one year on progress report
It is just over a year since Pursuing Excellence: the National Improvement Strategy for the further education system was published to support the further education system in its drive for excellence.
This progress report by the national partners shows that already there is much to celebrate.
Since its launch there has been extensive engagement of the sector and high awareness and satisfaction with the National Improvement Strategy. This report demonstrates the substantial achievements that have been made in a short space of time. These improvements in performance are encouraging and show that colleges and providers are progressing towards the world-class level envisaged by Lord Leitch.
During the first half of 2008 a new sector owned improvement body will be launched and will take over the activities of QIA and CEL. The new improvement body will lead a full review of the National Improvement Strategy to ensure that it remains appropriate in the new quality landscape and responds to the needs of colleges and providers as they pursue further improvement.
