Research

Research to inform programmes

QIA contributes to a strong evidence base on improvement in the sector and internationally. This is so we can strengthen our knowledge of issues central to the sector's development. We want to enhance our understanding of what works and in which contexts.

New programmes commissioned by QIA are underpinned by evidence on effective practice wherever possible. We will also evaluate the impact of our programmes.

Developing research evidence

QIA will become the authoritative source of advice on quality improvement.

We:

  • analyse the implications of existing research
  • commission new research into good practice in the learning and skills sector, in other sectors and in other countries
  • provide authoritative analysis of new priorities for improvement and strategic change
